One woman has made it her mission to provide quality furniture at reasonable prices. Jeannene Tedesco has been selling furniture for two decades. She is unique in that she gets her furniture directly from the warehouse and passes the savings onto her customers by staying as close to the warehouse prices as possible. Tedesco has maintained her business for more than a decade, but she wasn't always a furniture salesman.
Door to Door
Tedesco began selling furniture after watching her father for so many years. Her father had been a door to door salesman, for a variety of products. He sold vacuum cleaners for the most part because they seemed to be the easiest item to convince a housewife that she absolutely needed. Tedesco helped her father set up countless demonstrations and learned her own sales skills from her father. She learned that people wanted quality for a decent price, and she learned how to ensure that they understood the need for any given product. Once she was old enough to get a job she looked into becoming a salesman, and found that traveling wasn't what she remembered it to be. Tedesco sold vacuums across the United States on a year-round basis. Whether it was the hard winter months in northern states like Maine or the blistering summer months in states like Alabama, Tedesco did what she could to keep her sales numbers up. After a year of working on his own, she decided that she needed to find something a little more stable. That's when she decided to get involved in selling furniture.
Setting Up Shop
In order to get started, Tedesco had to get all of her paperwork in order and find financial backing so that she could have a business that stayed in one place. Tedesco found the right location and was able to get a loan from the bank to purchase an old warehouse that was roughly 5000 square feet, big enough to keep plenty of furniture on hand. She decided that she was going to give her customers quality with reasonable pricing, and she has become well known in the little Iowa towns as a woman you with a solid business reputation.
Tedesco has become a bit of an antique collector and when she isn't ordering furniture for her customers, she is perusing the internet and auctions for pieces to furnish her own home.
